Friends of Government Canyon is a non profit organization (501c3) and depends entirely on donations, grants and volunteer efforts to fulfill it's purposes.  To preserve and protect the cultural and natural resources of the Natural Area.  To interpret through educational and recreational programs, the natural and cultural resources of the Natural Area to the visiting public.  To build a constituency of support for the Natural Area, and to provide for the enjoyment and safety of visitors.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is under funded and depends on volunteer groups like "The Friends" to accomplish its' shared purpose.  Donations from individuals and organizations help us to help TPWD provide outdoor, nature based experiences for the community.
